Suspect On Loose After Armed Robbery At Rest Area Businesses On Merritt Parkway

Connecticut State Police are on the lookout for two suspects, one a juvenile, who allegedly robbed rest area businesses on the Merritt Parkway at gunpoint.

The robbery took place around 8:34 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, on the Merritt Parkway rest area southbound in Fairfield, said the Connecticut State Police.

Witnesses on the scene described the suspect as a black male,  approximately 5-foot-8,  wearing a mask, black sweatshirt, grey sweatpants, and red sneakers who was accompanied by a juvenile black male wearing a green coat and tan pants. 

The adult male displayed a black handgun while the juvenile stood by the door. The two suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash, state police said.

State Police K-9 units arrived on scene and performed a track which yielded negative results.

"Fortunately no one was injured during the commission of this crime," state police said. "We are seeking assistance from the public."
